Boxit & The Great North Pole Race - Roger DavisRoger Davies, Boxit and the ‘World’s Toughest Race’ to the North Pole On Sunday 29 March 2009, 61 year old Roger Davies set off from Cheam, Surrey, to take part in the 2009 Polar Race. Most of the competitors are much younger, and none have just recovered, as Roger has, from major heart surgery. The grueling race starts from Resolute Bay in the former North West Territories of Canada. It takes the contestants some 350 miles, by ski or foot, across some of the most desolate terrain in the world to the 1996 certified position of the Magnetic North Pole. The Polar Race is for those few hardy men and women who want to test their endurance to the very limit. Just to survive in this terrain takes courage, but to race requires a willingness and determination beyond the norm. Roger Davis is one of those intrepid adventurers this year, and he is taking with him his trusty Boxit case, to protect his Dictaphone from the extreme cold while he logs his journey along the way!
